GPS / Geolocation Test
Heading: —
Limitations
On PCs without GPS, accuracy may be 10m to several km (via IP/Wi-Fi).
GPS and geolocation test: why accuracy varies
On a smartphone with a GPS module, location accuracy is typically between 3 and 15 metres. On a laptop without GPS, accuracy can be anywhere from a few hundred metres to several kilometres, because coordinates are determined by IP address or nearby Wi-Fi networks. This test shows real coordinates, altitude, accuracy and the time of the last update. If your smartphone shows accuracy of 50+ metres indoors — that's normal, since GPS signals don't penetrate floors and ceilings well. But if accuracy is worse than 100 metres outdoors — the GPS module may be damaged or the antenna may be coming loose. This often happens after opening a phone for repair without carefully reconnecting the antenna cable.
