Touchscreen test: degradation and dead zones

Touchscreens degrade over time: first they stop responding to touches in certain areas, then "ghost" touches appear with no finger on the screen at all. This test draws coloured circles at every touch point and shows the maximum number of simultaneous touches. If dragging a finger leaves a broken line — that area of the touchscreen has a problem. If the simultaneous touch count is suddenly less than you remember, the ribbon cable may be starting to fail. On Xiaomi and Samsung tablets after a drop you sometimes get: the picture is there, but the touchscreen doesn't respond at all or only in part of the screen — the test definitively confirms whether a glass or touchscreen module replacement is needed.
