WebUSB API requires explicit user permission for each device. HID devices (keyboards, mice), audio and video devices are usually blocked by security policies.

USB port not detecting a device: how to check in the browser
Before taking your laptop in for a "broken USB" port, it's worth working out whether the problem is the port, the device, or the driver. WebUSB API lets you request access to a connected device directly in the browser and see its identifiers: Vendor ID, Product ID and device class. If the device shows up here — the port and device are physically fine; the problem lies with the drivers or OS. If it doesn't appear, try a different port: if it shows up there, the first port is damaged. Note: HID devices (keyboards, mice) are not visible to the browser due to WebUSB security restrictions — this doesn't mean they're faulty. Charging cables and USB drives can be checked normally.
